In celebration of the launch, we caught up with M•A•C’s Global Senior Artist, Mariam Khairallah, to get her go-to makeup look using her favourite products, as well as her top tips and tricks for a glowing base that leaves you feeling fantastic!
Originally captivated by her mother’s smoldering eye looks as a child, Mariam had a passion for artistry at a young age and went on to pursue a formal education in makeup artistry in Lebanon before being recruited by M•A•C in Dubai. Inspired by the makeup of icons such as Cleopatra and Catwoman, Mariam loves the dramatic, dark and smokey eye looks of powerful characters. She is driven by the magic that makeup gives you to transform who you are. Makeup gives you the power to be whoever you want to be.
Q – What’s your go to makeup look?
A – “My go-to makeup look starts with M•A•C Powder Kiss Eyeshadow in ‘My Tweedy’, topped with In Extreme Dimension Mascara for a warm and modern eye look. A simple Spice Lip Pencil to add a bit of color and Studio Fix Powder for a flawless finish.”
Q – Which products are best for a glowing base?
A – “For the perfect glowing skin, I love using the M•A•C Strobe Cream which can be used alone or mixed in with your foundation for that perfect sun-kissed skin.”
Q - What’s your top beauty hack/tip?
A – “My biggest beauty secret is that you can turn any eyeshadow into a liquid metallic finish by mixing a little bit of M•A•C Fix+ into the shadow. This intensifies the color and gives you an out of this world finish.”
Q - What are your top 3 favourite M•A•C products?
A – “My favourite products are the M•A•C Fix+ and Studio Fix Powder, that keep me looking flawless all day and night. I also love the Teddy Eye Kohl, which is by far the most versatile shade that can go with any eye look.”
Q - What is your go to lip shade?
A – “My most used go-to lip is the Spice Lip Pencil with Velvet Teddy Lipstick or with Powder Kiss Lipstick in Mull It Over, either of these give you that ultra-matte nude lip that every woman loves.”
Q - What makes you feel fantastic?
A – “Looking good makes me feel fantastic. But the secret to looking good with a full face of makeup is having your skin feel good, that’s why I use M•A•C Fix+ to keep my skin fresh and hydrated all day.”
Get the look
Step 1: Using the Teddy Eye Kohl Pencil Liner, outline the bottom waterline of the eye and top outer corner of the eye for definition. Draw a wing from the outer corner of the eye in line with the end of the eyebrow and then using your brush, blend this out slightly for a smokey finish.
Step 2: Apply the center shade from the Burgundy Eye Shadow x9 palette to the outer edge of your eyelid as well as underneath the eye. Apply the lighter shades to the inner corner of the eyelid, blending out to cover the full eye to add depth and a subtle shimmer.
Step 3: Apply Lash 48 to your upper lashes for a natural looking, fluttery effect.
Step 4: Use the Dual Dare Liner to outline and add definition to the inner and outer corners of the eye for a cat-eye effect.
Step 5: Enhance the volume and length of your lashes further using the In Extreme Dimension Lash Mascara in 3D Black Lash.
Step 6: Dot a small amount of Studio Fix 24-Hour Concealer (Mariam uses the shade NC35) just under the inner corner of the eye and on the top of the cheek bone. Use your brush in a sweeping motion to blend the concealer across the whole eye area and out onto the top of the cheekbone.
Step 7: Use the Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation (Mariam uses the shade NC41) to contour the brighter areas of the face that the sun would hit, including the higher parts of the cheek, the chin and the forehead.
Step 8: Contour your natural face shape using the M•A•C Mineralize Skinfinish Natural Powder (Mairam uses the shade Medium/Dark). Using your brush, apply the powder just under the cheek bone and blend upwards for a chiseled look.
Step 9: Add a pinch of colour with the Glow Play Blush in Grand to the apples of the cheek and blend in.
Step 10: Outline the edges of the lips from the center using the Lip Pencil in Soar, then fill in the lips with Velvet Teddy Matte Lipstick. 11470378
Step 11: Finally, set the look using M•A•C Fix+. Hold the bottle about 6 inches away from the face and spray all over to make your makeup last all day!
